[Cammus C5] USB Device Descriptor Request Failed / disconnect when turning wheel

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Cammus C5 after about 2 years of use.

The wheel works normally at first, but after turning the wheel quickly or making sudden movements, the wheel disconnects from the software.

After that, Windows shows:
“Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”

More details:

  • The power light on the base stays ON

  • Restarting the base temporarily reconnects it

  • FFB works normally before disconnecting

  • The issue still happens even with FFB set to 0

  • It can happen even outside of games, just by opening the software and turning the wheel quickly

  • I already tried multiple USB ports

  • I checked the external USB cable and it does not disconnect when moved or shaken

Additional information:
My previous PC also had similar symptoms with this C5 for a long time, but restarting the base always fixed it, so I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time.

Now the issue has become worse because restarting no longer fixes it consistently and it keeps disconnecting again.

Things I already tried:

  • Changing USB ports

  • Using the reset button

  • Reinstalling the software / drivers

Someone suggested that the power adapter might be failing and causing unstable voltage or power drops during sudden movement/load.

Has anyone experienced something similar?
What do you think is the most likely cause, and how can I fix it?

Thank you.

Hello, based on your description, we suspect the issue may be related to insufficient USB/power supply from the PC motherboard or a possible slip ring connection issue.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Device disconnection self-check guide:
[Official Guide] Device disconnection and self-help troubleshooting methods

  2. If possible, please test the C5 on another PC to rule out motherboard power supply issues.

  3. Please disconnect any additional devices or accessories from the C5 base and connect only the base directly to the PC for testing.

If the issue still persists, please contact our support team directly at infor@cammus.com.

I tried open 2in1 mode and then I just test about 10 minutes Its seems like working now.Do you know the root cause?

The 2in1 mode (single firmware) is generally more stable than the dual-firmware.
